	Born in Malacca, Malaya, and educated in Australia, I went on to graduate studies in London, where I married an American anthropologist who took me to the South Pacific. As a foreign service wife, living in posts throughout South Asia, I reared three children, taught high school, and grew as a writer, poet, and artist. Since retiring to Virginia, I have continued painting and writing, and have published three memoirs. As a painter, I have held 18 exhibitions on three continents during the last two decades. My works have been exhibited from Washington, D.C. to Kathmandu, Nepal, from Australia to Pakistan, and hang in private and foundation collections around the world.
I began my career studying with noted Australian painters Danila Vassilieff and Henri Froudist. Under their tutelage, I developed my strong sense of color and passion for bold imagery. My paintings are usually developed in series around a central theme, inspired either by literature, such as the poetry of Gerard Manley Hopkins and Dylan Thomas, or by nature: flowers, horses, land and seascapes.
